Back home

Hi all,

I’m back home now in the UK after what was a seriously fun trip out to Australia. I met some amazing people and it was really great to stay with Jess’s family. Thanks guys!

First and foremost I want to say congrats to the guys who have just completed the Talisker Bounty Boat expedition. They arrived in Kupang not so long ago and it was great to see some photos of an extremely elated crew. See taliskerbountyboat.com for more details.

It’s good be be home again after my time out in Aus and I’ve been busy planning my next few weeks. I’m doing a few talks here and there, a couple of school visits, I’m racing in the Round the Island race on Saturday raising money for Prostate UK and just in general having lots of fun!

Need to get packed for heading down to Cowes tomorrow morning.

Mike

  4. Welcome back to Blighty Mike.
Watching you and Jesse and Jessica in Australia (albeit via internet) was wonderful and I can imagine you must have had a brillient time there.
What a reunion for you !!!

Hope you had luck down at Cowes.......been travelling myself and haven't been able to keep up-to-date with how the race went.
Any chance we'll see you down there for the 50th anniversary Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat race in August ?....despite sail being more of an attraction than motor....it would be amazing to have you there.
Keep safe, keep enjoying, keep dreaming.

  5. Mike,
I just finished reading your book .. just one word.... fascinating..I was very impressed with the way you handled your boat.. You became one with her as you understood her language very well..
I kept on thinking about Abby Sunderland (thank God she is safe) and her Open 40..(May be it is not fair to make a comparison between an Open 40 and a Open 50)
I have to assume that the Open 40 requires a lot "power sailing" as well..

Are you going to release a DVD as well (makes it complete, right..)

Keep up the good work and the sailing dreams and future plans (Jesse is also doing that )

What happened with Total Money, did she went back to the charter company and did they gave you a hard time for being "over due" time wise..??

    Regards

  7. G'day Mike,
just a small sign of life from me.
We're so glad you're safely home again after a successful oz presence together with Jessica.
In all ways we have been able to follow you, and certainly also by our mutual contacts through parents, relatives and friends.
We are proud of all your professional achievements, but especially of the enthusiastic sports personality you are.
That I wanted to let you know again.
    We wish you every success in everything you do, and a few weeks later enjoy again a nice aussie time together with Jessica;
she too has made a so big achievement.
Say hi to your parents, your sister, and definitely your lovely grandmother.
    Bye Bye for now,
    Timo, family and friends
