Cruising, driving and awarding - 19th Oct 2009 |
Hi everyone, A few evenings ago I was treated to a lovely cruise on the Thames thanks to the guys over at Underwriting Risk Services as I was giving a short presentation about my trip to all their guests at their very late summer get together. I arrived at Tower Bridge pier around half an hour early and so I wandered up to the bridge and walked halfway along it. I stopped there and just gazed out over the river and at the greatview of London you get from there and I reflected on the trip and how everything has adjusted since I've arrived back home. I remember that a few weeks before I left, I stood in exactly the same place on the bridge and thought about everything that was coming up and I was so excited about it all. Looking back to that point, it really does feel like time has just flown by as quick as a flash. What a year it's been! Certainly one i will remember for a long time. The exciting news is that British School of Motoring (BSM) has now come on board as a sponsor for all my driving lessons and so I'm now having around 2 lessons a week which I'm totally loving! The BSM car (Fiat 500) is very nippy and it's great fun to drive, oh and easy to park too seeing as it's so small and agile! I've got another lesson tomorrow morning so I'm looking forward to that. Saturday was a mad day. I had a wedding in the morning. Not mine! In the afternoon the Potters Bar golf club had organised a reception for me and had invited lots of pretty important people. I won't mention who as I don't want to miss anyone out! There were also loads of other people from Potters Bar and several other close friends. I felt very honoured as I was given 2 awards and an amazing painting of TotallyMoney.com . In the evening I had been invited as a guest of honour to the 50th anniversary dinner of the local rotary club. Great food was served and this certainly satisfied my appetite which hasn't let off much since the trip. I also received another award which was really appreciated. Thanks guys! Another exciting bit of news to hear was of Jessica Watson's departure from Sydney to attempt to become the youngest person to sail around the world, non-stop and unassisted. I spoke to Jessica the evening before she left and wished her luck. Jessica was in high spirits and I really wish good luck to her. She's one of these super positive people and I'm sure she's going to love her trip! Go Jesse go! Anyway, I've got some college work to do so I better get on with that, Mike |
