Hello everybody
I thought now Mike was on dry land he would be updating this blog, but alas he has just had his appendix removed and has asked me to update.
Mike flew to Sydney a few days ago to meet up with the other guys signed up as Bounty Boat crew and to help prepare and take part in the training Don is working up. Mike only managed the morning of the survival course before retiring with abdominal pains then throwing up and fainting a couple of times. He was taken to hospital by some kind people who Don knows. He was admitted straight away and after a couple of days of tests and monitoring the surgeon took the decision of removing his appendix. Great news…one less thing to worry about in the future…. shame he couldn't have his tonsils and any other redundant organs taken out at the same time! The doctors and nurses have done a great job at looking after Mike and BIG thanks to everyone who has visited him.

I understand teenagers will often do just about anything to get out of work but geeze Mike, opting to have surgery rather than take survival training? That beats all. I still think you wanted to see if Timo enjoying all those 'chickee' nurses in the hospital was really true : ).
ReplyDeleteSeriously, you will be feeling much better soon. We are thinking and praying for you for a quick, uncomplicated recovery.
Soldier on Mate.
Thanks Peter for the update.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mike can take the course by correspondence...lol.
I knew Mike would figure out a way to get back to Hobart and have some of Margie's home cooked meals.
Take care all.
Dan
Hi Peter,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the news about Mike. How fortunate he was on land and with friends who helped him. Sounds like he is being well looked after. Please pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Kind regards to everyone.
Elizabeth
wow, thanks for that. just looked at the BB blog, at least he is smiling.
ReplyDeleteHiya Peter, have not commented for a while but regularly check Mike's site to see 'whats up'. Wishing Mike a speedy recovery so that his training can continue. Sounds like a lot of laughs are in store while at the same time there is a serious side. Wish I could be out there with them not least to escape this drawn out winter though I did spend the same week as Mike in the French Alps! So Mike, get well soon as I am looking forward to reading your account of the training as you start to bond with your fellow crew. Cheers. Neil A.
ReplyDeleteWell, Hi Dad
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear all is OK. - Though I'm a trifle concerned as to what other 'organs' aside from his tonsils, you feel should be made redundant!
I'm all agog to find out how the preparations are going for the Bounty Boat Voyage. When do we get to hear about the other two (Mad?) individuals signed up for this bit of fun?
Hope Mike is back to full fitness soon
Best wishes
Jonathan

This is great!...it looks like some of Mike's old groupies from the 'solo round' days are starting to come out of hibernation...Elizabeth,johnboi,Jonathan,Timothy,Jim....great to see everybody again. Don't forget to go to the linked Bounty Boat site for all the latest including some great photos of Mike in hospital. And keep on clicking those adverts on the side panels to help pay for things.
